But when this power resurfaces in the present times, it's closely pursued by the mad scientist Dagon, who is hell-bent on saving the planet earth, by destroying the human race. A little girl Panchi and her family gets entangled with Dagon and Panchi seeks the help of the graceful queen Liya, in order to defeat Dagon, and save her family and humanity from total annihilation.
The plot is a an ambitious multi-layered narrative, and has a story within a story form.
The story begins in the present day where a family is attacked, and the film opens with a heart-pounding confrontation between Panchi, her husband and daughter, and two alien robot intruders in their home. The mother, Panchi, destroys the robots and saves her family using a mysterious obelisk-shaped object called "Jio." Her family demands an explanation. So this thrilling incident prompts Panchi to reveal a story from her childhood and how she obtained the ‘Jio’, opening up a story-within-a-story narrative.
As a child, Panchi's family faces threats from a murder case her father, a lawyer, is handling. To avoid the repercussions of the dangerous trial involving their father, Sanjeeb, Panchi and her younger brother, Raj, are sent to their village home to stay with their grandmother, Purabi, for protection. During their stay, the siblings struggle to adapt to the rural lifestyle but eventually form a bond with their grandmother, Purabi.
One night, Purabi shares the story of her husband's mysterious disappearance years ago, after a meteor crash in the nearby forest. That night, an alien intruder sneaks into the house but the grandmother kills it in self-defense, finding the Jio near its body. She buries the Jio in the backyard.
As the story unfolds, Panchi's brother gets lost in the forest and stumbles upon an old alien spaceship, injuring himself. Panchi, along with their new friend Piklu, searches through the forest. While trying to rescue Raj, Panchi stumbles upon the source of the powerful Jio in the ancient alien spaceship. Panchi unknowingly activates the Jio and this discovery draws the attention of a mad scientist, Dagon, who has been searching for the Jio for centuries.
The Jio is an ancient power given to early humans by an advanced alien race that established the first human civilization of Atlantis. When the Jio resurfaces found by Panchi, Dagon pursues it to destroy humanity. Avataran takes viewers on an exhilarating journey as Panchi and her family become entangled with Dagon and a beautiful queen, Liya, from the ancient alien race. Liya secretly allies herself with Panchi and her family. But when Dagon realizes that their time-traveling endeavors and interference will only lead to Earth’s destruction, he becomes disillusioned and bitter. Dagon decides to use the Jio's power for his own nefarious purposes, seeking to eliminate humanity entirely and create a new world order under his control. But Liya, realizing the potential consequences of Dagon's actions, rebels against him and opens a black hole to stop him. Tarunabh Dutta, an architect by training and a filmmaker by passion, has carved a niche for himself in the world of cinema with over 18 years of experience. Having completed more than 45 diverse projects, ranging from feature films, web-series, documentaries to music videos and commercial ads, his creations have amassed over 3 million views across platforms like YouTube.
His journey into filmmaking began during his architectural studies at the esteemed Sir J.J. College of Architecture. Post his graduation in 2008, Tarunabh ventured into the world of cinema, starting as a storyboard artist for Disney's Bollywood film "Zokkomon". In 2011, he established TD Film Studio, taking on the roles of Founder Director and Producer. His dedication to the craft has seen his works being broadcasted on both regional and national television channels.
A passionate educator, Tarunabh has conducted over 40 filmmaking workshops across Assam's premier educational institutions. His commitment to nurturing talent is evident in his 'Onscreen Acting' Workshops, where he guarantees casting roles to all participants upon completion. To date, he has provided a platform for over 150 budding actors.
Tarunabh's accolades include assisting renowned Film Director Jahnu Barua on the Directorate of Tourism, Assam's Ad Campaign and designing political ad campaigns for the Indian National Congress Party. His short film 'I am not Crazy' clinched the third prize at the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival in 2013, while 'Lost & Found' made it to the top 25 finalists in Viacom Motion Pictures' 'Cineshorts' Film Competition 2016. His music video ‘Assam Skies’ has garnered international recognition, receiving nominations in six film festivals and winning accolades at the Druk International Film Festival and London International Motion Picture Awards.
A testament to his dedication is his magnum opus, 'Avataran', Assam's first Science Fiction Fantasy Feature Film. A project nine years in the making, it has set a benchmark in the North-east Region of India with its state-of-the-art VFX, 3D, CGI, and Animation shots. Following this, he completed two feature-length projects, ‘My Love is Vengeance’, and ‘Adhorua/Incomplete’ in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
With his wife, Himakhi Dutta, as his sole collaborator behind the camera, Tarunabh's self-reliance is unparalleled. He has single-handedly managed every aspect of his film projects, from scripting to post-production, without external assistance.
